Ian Sosso

FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTOR

Ian Sosso, winner of the EBAN award for “Best Early Stage Investor in Europe” in 2019, is the founder of MCC Ventures, part of the Monte Carlo Capital (MCC) group, a group of business angels, UHNWIs and family offices investing in Europe and the USA in companies with high disruptive potential in the high-tech, Saas, Fintech and healthcare sectors.

Ian began his career in 1993 as an investment banker and has worked in Paris, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong at HSBC, UBS and JPMorgan, holding positions in trading, sales and financial engineering.

Prior to founding Monte Carlo Capital, Ian was, until 2009, Managing Director responsible for all capital markets activities in Asia for Commerzbank, including equity derivatives, credit trading, precious metals, foreign exchange, as well as the HK, Singapore and Shanghai treasuries. 

Ian has spoken at conferences in Monaco, Switzerland, Finland, Dubai, the USA and throughout Asia. Until 2021, Ian taught venture capital to MBA and Master of Finance students at the University of Monaco. Ian is a board member of EBAN, the Brussels-based organization representing the business angel community in Europe. Ian is also a board member of the Monaco Venture Capital Association, and the author of several studies on business angel activity, and the creation of disruptive companies from university-derived technologies.

Ian holds an MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics (LSE).
